Broken Parts

Ever have a moment where something breaks and you have that pit in your stomach of not sure how to fix it or how much it will cost? I sure have and often anything related to my cochlear implants will set off a panic. In my 20+ years of hearing with my cochlear implants, I have had my fair share of broken parts. Just like an electronic device, it is not immune to the wear and tear of life. Recently, my microphone (t-mic) for my sound processor snapped. The first time this ever happened to me. Knowing I had a backup t-mic, I was able to quickly swap it but after a week I realized that backup microphone was not working right.

Because of all that, I knew I could easily jump onto an online chat with a representative from Advanced Bionics (the company that created my cochlear implant) and was able to get a new t-mic ordered and overnighted to me. Knowing the type of service and care I get from the team at Advanced Bionics, it brings comfort to me that they can easily ship new parts or even program a new processor and it will be at my door the next day.

So, if you have anxiety about broken parts with your cochlear implant, no need to fear.
